Working Together for a Drug-Free Monroe County

Building a Healthier Future — One Choice, One Conversation, One Community at a Time

Founded in 2014, the Monroe County Coalition for Drug-Free Communities (MCCDFC) is a partnership of concerned citizens and community professionals dedicated to promoting positive community health and reducing youth substance abuse.

We believe prevention starts with connection — when families, schools, law enforcement, and youth work together, real change happens.

Join us at 1315 Jamie Ln, Waterloo, IL, 62298 at 4 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month September through May for our free, public membership meetings!

About the Monroe Coalition

Why Our Work Matters

Substance use is not just a statistic — it’s a challenge that touches families, classrooms, and neighborhoods right here at home.

These numbers represent real lives — our children, students, teammates, and neighbors. The Monroe County Coalition for Drug-Free Communities exists to change this story by addressing the root causes of substance use and equipping our youth to make healthy, confident choices.

The reality in Monroe County:

  • 50% of local high school seniors reported drinking to excess within the past 30 days — nearly double the national average.

% of 12th Graders Who Reported Using Substances in the Past 30 Days

How We Make an Impact

Through education, prevention programs, and youth leadership opportunities, MCCDFC brings the community together to create lasting change. Together, we are building a safer, stronger Monroe County — one where every young person can thrive.

Our initiatives include:

Operation Snowball and Cebrin Goodman Teen Institute, programs that empower students to lead drug-free lives.

Public awareness campaigns that encourage safe, responsible choices for families.

Collaborative partnerships with schools, law enforcement, churches, and local leaders to build a united front for prevention.

Be Part of the Solution

It takes all of us to create a community where youth feel supported, informed, and free to make positive choices. Whether you’re a parent, educator, business owner, or studentyou have a role to play.

Join the conversation. Volunteer. Get involved.
Together, we can make Monroe County a place where healthy choices are the easy choices. It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
